Tools & Reference

Welcome to this evolving section of my little sewing corner on the internet.
I call it “Tools & Reference.”
Here’s why:

Tools

Everyone talks about technique and how to sew when you’re learning how to sew, but it seems very few people point you in a solid direction when it comes to getting your tools. “Get *generic thing*” is not nearly as helpful as “I recommend *specific thing* that you can find at *specific place* and this is why I recommend it.”

Your tools are going to make or break your whole experience, and you want to start off giving yourself the best chance for success, and if you’re anything like me, you want SPECIFICS. What thing did you get? Where did you get it? What do you like or dislike about it? That’s the stuff I want to know when I’m walking into something as a newbie.

So this is where I try to share exactly that: the tools I have, the ones I’ve tried, the ones I love, the why, the where, all of it. And as my journey continues and I uncover pitfalls or bonuses, I’ll add that too.

Reference

Stitch icons. Stitch names. When to use what and why. Troubleshooting. Maybe even some time-saving jumping-off points when it comes to the endless combinations of settings to use on endless types of fabrics and techniques… There’s a lot. It can be overwhelming. I will never claim to know it all, but I will definitely share the things I learn and what has worked for me to hopefully make things less painful for someone else.

A lot of this information exists in my blog posts, but in a more stream-of-consciousness way and more scattered about. It begs to be organized, so I’ll pull out the good stuff from there and put it in this section so it’s easier to find.
